Upgrading HP OpenView Storage Data Protector

I have a customer who is using HP OpenView Storage Data Protector A.05.50 for tape backups on HP-UX B.11.00. They would like to upgrade to the latest versions. What would they be (both Storage Data Protector and HP-UX) and is there a known upgrade path?

We believe that tapes made as early as 1997 should be able to be read by the latest version. Does anyone know if this is correct?
