My Compaq Presario has 8 GB hardisk. I wish to remove this and install a 40/80/120 Gb harddisk.
How do I know what is the maximum capacity hardisk supported by my pc?
Which make (Seagate/MAxtor etc. ) will be more compatible? Will all be the ame?
Originally I had a Seagate harddisk.

Most times the maximum drive size won't be known until plugging one in and see if the BIOS will recognize it.

All the IDE/ATA hard drives made today should work but you probably have a BIOS limit of 8.4GB, 16GB, or 32GB. That can be worked around by using a drive overlay software from the maker of the new drive or checking with HP/Compaq for an updated BIOS file.
