After signing up for a new license I've received version 5.0 of groupshield. I want to update my exchange server (nt4) from groushield 4.5 to version 5.0.

Do I simply install version 5.0 over the top?

Has anyone had any problems doing this and/or what would be the best way to migrate to version 5.0

Thanks in advance.

The most prudent way is to uninstall 4.5, reboot, then install 5.0. Not that installing over would not work, but just to save you the trouble of having to troubleshoot if something does go wrong.

I've done this before (installing over 4.5) but that was on a test server. The production server I scheduled a downtime and did the install from scratch.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the advice. I agree with what you say about being prudent, it's not often that taking a shortcut works out :)

Looks like a bit of overtime is on the cards!

Well Ill tell you what I have seen a LOT of these installs from a support standpoint, and never once have I seen a problem with any of them. However if you do uninstall first I do not really see that causing any problems either. and I agree that would seem more "prudent" FatesWebb

if you do what I suggested it is not my fault...

Cheers Guys

I'll give it a whirl this weekend.

Hi Huys

Install went fine. except for the following:

When I try to update the DAT files in Groupshield, I get a "Failed to create a temporary update directory"

Any ideas how to resolve this?

Cheers
