I have a Powermac G3 blue and white tower. I haven't touched its innards since I bought it but I'm now trying to upgrade it into a video editing workstation. So far I've just started by maxing out the ram. Next I need to add as big a hard-drive as possible and then the most important thing, the video card. I've been looking around but I've been a bit intimidated by the techie jargon. This is what I want: a card whereby I can plug in a VCR, camcorder or other analog video device, digitize the signal, edit it on the computer and then pump it back out on to the VCR.
1.Do I need seperate video and audio cards?
2.Do I need to upgrade the graphics card that runs the monitor too?
3. Does keeping everything in DV format reduce my costs?
4. Are there any ways to turn a G3 into a G4?
I'm trying to stay within a budget around $2000. What's the best I can do?
