Upgrading fron 4.2 to 5.2

what is the process upgrading accpac 4.2 to 5.2, keeping all reports and forms functional( will the process do conversions)

The upgrade process does not convert custom reports. You have to open them in Crystal, point to the new data, then select Database/Verify.

Be aware that 5.2 has some issues with reports. I recommend getting a hold of ACCPAC's white paper on the issue.

'Upgrading Crystal Reports with Advantage Series 5.2'

Here is a quote from the paper.

In some situations, your reports may no longer function properly after upgrading with one of the 4 methods we mention as a result of database and program changes in ACCPAC Advantage Series 5.2. We also recommend that you perform these upgrades using Crystal Reports 8.5. Refer to the Technical Information document for each module for a list of database and report changes.

We upgraded our Advantage in January and were about to update to 5.2. However it was recommended to go no higher than 5.1 due to problems with 5.2.

That depends on the modules. GL, AR, and AP are fine, OE and IC still have occassional issues, but it's gotten a lot, lot better. It's best to test!
