I'm currently using XPs FR3, which was installed in April 2004. I recieved the product discs for Presentation Server 4.0 through the post while my Subscription advantage was still current, though my subscription has now lapsed. Should i be eligble to upgrade to Presentation Server 4.0 or will i need to purchase new licences for this product?

Thanks for any advice!
James Wilson.

I believe you are eligible for any product for which you had SA when it was released, i.e. if my SA expires on August 01, 2006 and PS 4.5 were released on July 25, 2006, I should be able to download and install PS 4.5 anytime I want.

Logon to MyCitrix.com and see if this holds true.

I believe that Mr Rouse is correct, the SA is for software up until it expires.

As a matter of interest if you are going to upgrade why did you not renew your SA ?

My collegue upgraded a Citrix XPs server to Citrix Presentation 4 without any problems except for the licensing. He is not able to get the licensing working. We have SA on our license packs but the licensing system is different in PS4. I've been searching for a few hours and can't seem to figure it out. I will have to call Citrix tomorrow to sort it out but was hoping to find something here. I liked the old system which was pretty clear. This one seems easy but I can't get it working. How do I get a license file ? I tried going through all the menus in MyCitrix and still nothing. I have the connection keys for my 2 license packs. How do I reuse them ?

thanks

I can't stress the kind of chance you're taking doing your first install on a production environment. I'd highly recommend using a lab environment (if you don't have a spare PC to test on) to make sure everything works the way you want, before backing up and running on your production servers.

You download the license files from mycitrix.com and install them with the Citrix License Console on your Citrix License Server.

Unfortunately we don't have a test environment. How does reusing the existing licenses on a test server affect the production server ? Since in XP, you need to enter the Citrix generated code on MyCitrix. Wouldn't that invalidate the code received originally ?

You can setup a production Citrix License Server and test Presentation Server. I'm not following you. Have you downloaded your 4.x license file from mycitrix.com.

You could also have a test license server, test data store and test PS4 server(s).
