We're in the planning stages for an upgrade from Exchange5.5 to Exchange2000. We will be installing a brabd new server with Exchange 2000 in it. This server has a FacSys connector in it. Currently we use Facsys in our existing server, and plan to keep it in it.
We plan on migrating all mailboxes and the information store to the new server once Exchange 2000 is running smoothly.
Is there anything that we should be aware of before any big surprises turn up?
Any suggestions, comments, thoughts are really appreciated. We welcome any ideas.
Thanks,
DM

Exchange 2000 requires Active Directory. You'll need to upgrade your NT 4 domain (if you haven't already). Get that solid, first. Then add Exchange 2k and move the mailboxes.

I'm not sure about the FacSys connector... You may need to set up a 5.5 server with the connector and upgrade it in place to exch2k.

Service pack at least sp3 on your 5.5 box. Offline backups before the operation, too. If you want 5.5 and 2k to replicate to each other you'll need to know about the Active Directory Connector (ADC).

Hope that helps.

Thank you for your suggestions. We already have AD in place and are aware of ADC. We also have all SP's installed in 5.5.
