Upgrading from an older version which comes installed with the OS

Hi,
This is my first ever post in this forum...
I plan to upgrade the MySQL version on my Linux (Red Hat 7).This version of MySQL was installed when the OS was installed (packed along with the OS).So I need to upgrade this to MySQl 4.0(I plan to use the RPMs)...so please if anybody knows how to do it..I will be really greatful.

from the command line :
rpm -U name-of-new.rpm

back up first tho , just in case.... :)
