Upgrading from Adobe 4.0 1

I am running Adobe 4.0 on my Dell (Windows 98). I need to begin to save PDF files so others who download the file will require a password, but 4.0 will not do that. I cannot seem to find 5.0 on the Adobe site. Is there a way to upgrade without going all the way to the purchase of 6.0? Will 6.0 even run on my Win 98 machine?

I'm not an expert but isn't there a password option in the Distiller under Settings - security, as for upgrade I think you can go to Acrobat 6 standard from 4 but I suspect you may struggle with Win98. Maybe Ebay could be a source V5 if you go that route.
