I am looking into upgrading from MS access 97 to access 2003. I am wandering if there would be incompatabilities with the older databases and access 2003. I have alot of forms and VB code in the current databases.

Thanks

Take a look at Microsoft Knowledge Base article #310937.

Also go to Microsoft Office Online ( and do a search for "Migrating to Access 2003). There is specific information in that article about migrating from Access 97. It says that files need to be converted before working with them in Access 2003, and suggests that you look at an article "Convert an Access file." This can also be found on the Microsoft Office Online site.

It may also help you to know that the default file format in Access 2003 is actually Access 2000. You can set this to 2003 if you wish but the default is 2000. This is done in order to make everything backwards compatible.

Hope this helps a bit.

Tom
