I have a toshiba tecra 550cdt. I am trying to upgrade from win 95 to win 98, but because win 95 has limited usb support my external cdrom wont load. I need to find another way to upgrade. any ideas would be awsome. thanks

Are you connected to a network? Does your external CDROM come with a parallel port connection or only USB?

If you are really lucky, maybe your Win98 boot up disk will pick up the external USB CDROM drive, and then you can install from the CD. The only other method I know of that would work is installing Win98 via diskettes (if yuo can find them anywhere). Maybe someone else has an idea.

If you can find the resources, you could put the upgrade stuff on 2 100mb zip disks through a parallel port zip drive , then dump it onto the hard drive the same way.
The other alternative is to get a 2" to 3" adapter kit and put the hard drive on a desktop with a CD and transfer the install stuff over that path. Then there is the laplink method. Ed Fair
