upgrading from 7.0 to cs2 or cs3

My questions is this. I purchased photoshop 7.0 on ebay about a yr ago. as far as I can tell its is not a copied cd. My question is If I purchase cs2 or cs3 upgrade and my copy of 7.0 is not legal will the upgrade take. I don't want to waste money on an upgrade if its not going to work and as I said I believe my copy of 7.0 is legal but I don't know how to tell for sure Any help would be apreciated

if it is a legal copy you can only upgrade to CS2.

You can only upgrade to CS3 from an CS version.

This is not true. Adobe.com is offering upgrades to CS3 from 7, CS1, and CS2.

You can tell if the upgrade will take by registering your version 7 with Adobe now on their web site. They will identify if you have a stolen license.

This is really a question for Adobe's customer service, not unknowing forum users.

I'm not sure what you mean by commenting on being polite. When noting 'unknowing forum users', I am referring to all of us, not you personally. Only Adobe can determine if the license can be upgraded and only Adobe can offer accurate pricing and upgrade options.

Well I found out that it has allready been registered. Most likely by the original owner Now I wonder if I can still upgrade or will they ask me for info that the original owner had used when registering Hmm. Maybe I'll just have to wait. I'm not gonna spend 5 or 600 bucks on the full ver. Just too much for me. Thanx guys. And as far as the polite thing goes
