I am running a BCM50 1.0 in our test lab and have encountered i2004 phones which do not connect and register. The information discussed so far is around the latest versions 3.7-4.0.
Did anyone know how this tftp transfer would work on my version 1.0 box?
Thats just the problem these sets do not connect to the BCM they are continually search for the S1 server. The forum in Tek-Tips discusses getting updated Firmware via TFTP(Utfp). My BMC OS is 1.0 and I don't know if we can get an upgrade soon.
Thanks for your reply.
On a BCM, IP Phone firmware is included in the core software - either directly or upgraded via a patch. Some of the IP Phones (2007/11xx/12xx) can use a separate TFTP server to get new firmware. But not 2001/2002/2004.
The forum thread1361-1193466 gives details on how to upgrade a i2004 phone via tftp/uftp. There I assume the problem is an old phone Phase 0 not be compatible with a newer BCM version. My problem is with an old BCM version with possibly newer phones that don't register.
Any ideas or help is welcome.
Disconnect tour bcm50 from the customer network.
Enable DHCP on for ip phones only.
connect your ip phone to the spare lan port on the bcm50.
SET the phone to FULL DHCP so as the BCM will give out all the information to the phone.
This will aleast prove the phonesystem and phone can work together.
IF this works reset the bcm back to your origianal settings
connect back to the network.
At the phone set check what the bcm has enable in the dhcp settings and see if they compare to your network.
