Upgrading Exchange Hardware

We are upgrading both our version of Exchange to 5.5 from 5.0 and the Hardware. We would like to change the server name when we upgrade to new hardware because the server it is on now is serving other purposes. I know how to upgrade using the same Exchange server name, but need to know what's involved when changing the name. Any tech docs out there or does anyone have advice?
