Customer has IP500 v2 on Rls8. I have to replace a defective DS30A. My question, is it possible to upgrade the DS30A to Rls8 without it plugged into the main unit. I thought I may be able to do it through AT commands but wanted to be sure.

Why? The system needs to be powered off to add the unit anyway and on power up will upgrade the module for you :)

It will be upgraded by the IP500V2 if i am correct.
Connect your laptop to the IPO and start monitor.
Go to filters -> services and check the options for tftp.
Then connect the DS30A and see if it upgrades it by it self.

If not (wait 5 minutes or so) then do it yourself by going to file -> advanced -> upgrade and select the DS30A

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

OK, I didn't know it would automatically do it. I've never had to replace a module before. I just wanted to make the switch out as fast as possible. Thanks

So long as you left the file server type as memory card it will :)

All went well. I replaced the DS30A because phones on this module had an issue that when they dialed a conference bridge and it connected, and they put in their pin number, the digit 8 was not recognized. Problem fixed.
