Hi there,

I recently purchased Delphi 7 Personal Edition from Amazon (for just under £100). When I installed it I discovered to my horror that the Personal Edition does not include database access components - the way I read the blurb indicated to me that the Personal Edition did include database access, but was not licenced for commercial use. Obviously I mis-understood.

Can anyone confirm if the Delphi 7 Professional Edition Upgrade (a snip at £323) will update my Personal Edition to Professional Edition, or am I expected to lob out a further £700+ for a "full" Delphi 7 Professional.

Many thanks in anticipation.

That would be quite a bargain, now, wouldn't it! I haven't tried upgrading the Personal Edition, but the upgrade paths are for like editions. If I were you, I wouldn't buy the upgrade just to see if it works.

Option 1: Try to get Amazon to swap the Personal Edition for the difference in price.

Option 2: If Amazon won't go for it, appeal directly to Borland.

In either case, admit your mistake and ask if they'll sell you a "cross-grade" for the difference in price. Borland has been good to me in similar situations.

Good luck,
David
