Is there any easy way to upgrade clients from version 10.0.0 to version 10.0.1? Or is it required for us to do another remoteclient install to every computer 10.0.0 is installed on?

We installed 10.0.0 on about 100 computers already and then some errors popped up, and we were told to use 10.0.1...

It seems silly that we'd have to push a new version to them every time there's a new patch, it seems like something liveupdate should get from the server.

Any tips? Thanks.

Symantec never provided product updates on Liveupdate. The product is capable, but you will just never find product updates. (It makes complete sense when you think about it. Symantec Antivirus is a corporate product, and not a consumer product. Imagine 50000 machines in a corporation downloading a download that is 10Mb in size... and then something fails... ouch... disaster! That's gonna be one hell of a ticked off system administrator... if he/she still has a job that is) So yes... 'manual' rollout, but.......

There are however plenty of ways to update the software. You can use the login script method, the remote deployment (Win2k, WinXP, Win2003) or use a third party deployment tool like Microsoft SMS. It is also possible to use Windows Group Policy Objects to rollout the software.

SSC -> Tools, Deploy Symantec antivirus server or the clients
Login Script -> see product documentation
Web Install -> see product documentation
GPO -> Look in the Symantec knowledgebase. I think there is a document there that explains how, but you may want to read on GPO software installs cuz it requires you to have all your machines in a Windows domain.

Easy enough I say :) Hope that helps a little

... and the Login Script install requires that the user have Administrative privileges.
