Upgrading CKE3 at R4 toR7

Greetings all:

I am new to this group, as I've recently become responsible for a couple of Legend installations. I'm learning alot by reading, and I'm definately going to continue lurking.

My question is: I have a CKE3 R4 processor, and I'd like to upgrade it to an R7 (or whatever I can get it up to). Does someone out there know of a service to send it out to, or is there a card someone can loan me? (is that considered unethical, or illegal?)

I just need the 15minutes it takes with the card to upgrade the processor, and I would be finished.

First- It is possible to upgrade a CKE3 processor to R7, however, you will not be able to enjoy some of the features and hardware support of a release 7. If that is what your looking for, you'll have to have a CKE4 or 5 processor.

As for assisting you in the upgrade, loaning you the upgrade card, etc., it depends on what area you're located in.

At the moment, the only reason I know of that I would want to be at R7 is so I can use the QuickAccess features of WinSPM to assist in modifying some programming.

Is there documentation somewhere that spells out what you can and can't do between the CKE 3,4, and 5 revisions of hardware?

Joel,

The important difference between the CKE3 main circuit board and the CKE4 MCB is the ram memory. The Ram memory on the CKE3 doesn't allow the higher denisty line mods like the 016MLX or 016ETRs to function properly. Other than that issue with thos emods, the CKE3 runs R7.0 software perfectly.
