how do ,happy new year

I have 2 customers with callpilot 150's
one 1.5 the other 3.0
want to upgrade to 3.1 on both
question is: do i need to use the upgrade card
or can i just backup old database and restore in to new software, and re input key codes if needed

thanks

It would be best to get the upgrade on a card then upgrade, this would be no cost since upgrade is free from Nortel site for vendors. Purchase a RM CP and sell with your 3.1 software.

However both the same, no need to re-install codes but backup is a good idea if need to go back.

I have been doing these upgrades for years & all I do is take take the PCMI card out of the Call Pilot & put it in my laptop. I take the files that are on the card & delete them from the card. I usually save them to a folder on my laptop just in case. I then copy out the files of the latest 3.1 software to the now blank PCMI card, eject the card & place it back in the Call Pilot. Power up the Call Pilot & you are good to go. I have done over 100 systems & had maybe one or two fail to work.In the event of a failure just copy back your old software files & the system will work fine.

no need to buy the $500 card from Nortel, you can pick up a MPCI card at your local computer store.

just to finish this thread
i backed up the systems
swapped cards to new software level
restored programming
(note: new software card ,system lost keycodes, restore put back in)
all works

thanks
