I need assistance with an upgrade from an Apache 2.04 server (rpm version) on RedHat 9 to Apache 2.54 (which is not in rpm yet. I don't want to change the path of the configuration files, which is :

/etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf
/etc/httpd/conf/vhosts/ for the vhost configuration files.

/var/www/ for the web pages

You can specify these settings in the configure statement. I'd suggest removing the 2.04 RPM before installing from source.

It's probably a simple matter to download the srpm for 2.04 or another 2.x, substitute the source for 2.54, and tweak the .spec file if you want a 2.54 RPM.
