Upgrading and Migrating to 2003 from 2000

Is it possible to upgrade a field office server running 2000 AD to 2003 AD before upgrading the master schema server? Would this have a negative effect. All servers are Global Catalog Servers and I am not ready to upgrade the main site server and would like to upgrade the field office server first.

Any thoughts or ideas?

First I'll tell you what you want to hear.

You don't have to upgrade the master schema server first....

But you do have to run adprep on that schema server before you can add any Window2003 domain controllers to your domain.
