Customer has a Legend 6.0 with an Audix on it's way out. We are upgrading them in two phases due to their dying Audix. We have a Magix 4.0 that we are going to install along with Merlin Messaging, as well as new power supplies.

I backed up their existing 6.0 translations and converted the file to a 7.0. However I am not able to convert the 7.0 file until I restore it in a processor and back it up again. My question is: Can I restore a converted Legend 7.0 file in the new Magix processor and then do the back up and convert file to Magix 4.0 and restore? My gut feeling is no, but I would like any input. As one alternative, I have a Magix PCMCIA upgrade card to a 2.2. Will this be of assistance to me regarding this problem? My last alternative is to reprogram from scratch, which I was hoping to avoid. Thx.

Use WinSPM Rel 9, and convert the R6 translations to Magix R 4, and then restore then onto the Magix R4 Processor. Make sure the Legend is not using any Magix-incompatible phones, or modules as well.

This is exactly why I posted. I am not able to simply convert the Legend 6.0 all the way to a Magix 4.0, in one jump. The file has to be converted AND restored before it can be converted the second time. I am using SPM 9.0.

Using WinSPM9, I was able to get a selection to take REl 6.1 Legend to go to 4.0 Magix. I guess I don't understand why it would have to be converted then restored. IF YOU CANNOT make it in one jump, then you could convert to R 7 Legend, then convert R7 LEgend to 4.0. I know at one time you couldn't go from Legend to Magix translations, but WinSPM9 should allow it.
If you have a translation file, send it to me, and maybe I can translate it. (free of course)

Here are the two things that I have tried.

I backed up and converted the 6.0Legend to a 7.0. When I try to convert the 7.0 to the Magix, the "destination release" doesn't give me options for what release to convert the file to, but rather is simply says "File already converted". After reading your post, I went to try again and this time, I converted the 6.0 to a 6.1 first, and then tried to go the way you suggested, but I get the same result...."file already converted". It seems that the converted file needs to be restored, backed-up, and converted a second time. I have the .ams file I can send to you if you think you can help. Let me know in your next post. Thx

I forgot this. The customer has all MLX modules and we are adding an 024TDL, 100DCD, and Merlin Messaging, as well as power supplies. Can I put the 024TDL module at the end of their existing hardware and still have the operator's position be on that module, or does it have to go into the first slot in order to make that happen?

I have found that if you have upgraded you WinSPM from the web page you can not do some thing like converting file IE 6.0 to Magix 4.0 you need to get a WinSPM release 9.0 CD and do an install from that. Then you problem will be resolved.

If you want your Operator to be a 4424LD+, you're going to have to put that in as the first multiline station card - so... - you might was well commit yourself to programming from scratch. Do a "print all" so you can see how the extensions are set up now, then go to town.

Well I wasn't able to convert the file so I had to start from scratch last night, however ever thing is A1 with them today. BUT .....since we didn't receive the TDL phones with the order, I had to leave out the 412TDL module, otherwise the operators would have no phones, and since I HAD to get the voicemail in last night, without the 412, I get to re-re-program it again next week!
