I have a 700 user 3300ICP LX controller. What hardware will I need to upgrade it to MCD 4.0? Ive already tried the online and offline upgrade using the SI tool but it kept giving me a "Cant retrieve LOS" error message. It connected to the ICP but just couldnt reach the licensing/options info. I found out that I cannot use the online upgrade going from 6.1 to any revision. But why did the offline not work? Is there a maint command to verify the size of the hdd and RAM? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

512Mb RAM needed. Even though the LX controllers have this I'm pretty sure that Mitel do not support this. You will need to upgrtade the hardware to an MXeII (expanded if you have more than 300 users).

From past encounters with LX controllers, I am sure that the 700 user box only comes with 256 RAM, but may be wrong. To check go to the hardware modules form on the 3300.

The LX hardware cannot be upgraded higher than release 9.0

MCD4.0 requires replacement of the LX

The controller has 256mb. Is there a way to verify the size of the hdd via a command within maintenance? Can I restore a 6.1 database to a 9.0 upgraded system?

Using the SW installer tool you can upgrade to rel 9.0.

you MUST choose the FULL INSTALL and not the upgrade option.

Based on the age of you system, I would be prepared with a spare hard drive just in case.

Ideally, I would replace the existing drive with one already upgraded to rel 9.0 and restore the 6.1 DB onto it. Should anything go sideways, you can always re-install the original disk.

I keep getting an error message when using the SI tool. After it looks at my hdd partitions it connects to the 3300 via the ftp but then I get a LOS cant retrieve error message. Why is this?

Don't forget that you will need either need access to the AMC to get an options sheet or the 3300 will need internet access to sync with the AMC as you will need a new options password to go from 6.1 to 9

Sounds the that version of SI Tool doesn't recognize the format of the 6.1 LOS form. I'd check with support to see if this is possible, you may have to do a sequenced upgrade, i.e. 6.x to 8.0, then 8.0 to MCD4.

Check the proper Release Note but I'm sure you need to be at least a Rel 7 to direct upgrade to 9.0 or higher

Thanks. I was able to restore it to a 9.0.0.41 database. I manually installed the new software and then restored the 6.1. Works great. Thanks for all your input.

cant i just upgrade this LX with a 512mb RAM Module?

No, the RAM is not field replaceable as in the CX/CXi controllers.

As already suggested late LX models came off the line with 512 Meg of ram installed. These systems will support MCD 4 with no problems as I have done it twice. You need to check the RN for MCD 4 and make sure your LX has the correct part number ( i.e 512 M ). If not you are out of luck and need to go to a new controller as RAM can not be replaced/upgraded on an LX,
