We've been running a number of 2900XL-HS-M switches in our network closets for over a year now, but want to upgrade the IOS software to a version capable of doing 802.1Q trunking. I telnetted to the switch, and neither a "sh boot" or "dir flash" gave me the actual filename of the image file. Even when I go into CVSM and look under system configuration, the IOS image file field is blank. When using CVSM you only need the new filename, and it's supposed to overwrite the current file, but I want to know what that file is before I go ahead and do it. Any ideas, or other ways I can see the filename?
If you know the IP address, can you IP into it using the web based config? It lists the config file in there.

Yes, I can IP into it using the web based config, but when I click on System Configuration to get to the IOS page, the field that is supposed to contain the IOS image filename is blank. I know we have flash memory, and that these are 4MB switches, and it does show the current version of the IOS, but just not the exact filename itself, which is bothering me. I've checked out all 6 of our switches, and it's the same deal in the others.

If you are running an image that gives you the command line ability you should be able to do a sh ver command and get it. (I just tried it on our 2924).
Hope this helps
