Upgraded T20 Thinkpad to XP and DVD does not detect CD

I have upgraded my IBM T20 Thinkpad to Windows XP professional. Now my DVD drive will not read DVDs. It does read regular CDs. While installing XP, I got a screen that says I need to visit a web site to download the correct driver for the DVD and that it would drop an icon on the desktop where to get the drivers. However, no icon was created.

The drive is a Matshita,SR-8174

The IBM web site shows only firmware upgrades but no drivers. Should I try upgrading the firmware and which one do I choose.
