My Dell Latitude X200 laptop came with W2K initially installed and recently I have used an XP Pro Upgrade CD to change the OS to XP Pro. This seemed to go without a problem until I noticed the following differences between it and my XP Pro Desktop :-

1. On the laptop , if I click START , there is no "MY NETWORK PLACES" showing.
2. In Device Manager on the laptop there appears under "OTHER DEVICES" a yellow question mark against "Network Controller"

Are these omissions/faults rectifiable within the XP Pro Upgrade CD - did I fail to complete some part of the upgrade sequence or is this due to a lack of certain XP drivers in the laptop due to its original W2K state ?

This problem was solved by downloading the latest Dell XP drivers
