Hello,

I have a WD "WD1200B005-RNN" External hd USB 1.1/2.0. The drive itself is the "WD1200BB-60CJA1" I purchased it back in 2004. I am starting to have problems for example : clicking, drive led(red)stays on all the time. Looking inside the case there is an "IN-SYSTEM" IC "ISD300A1", Probably the eide interface chip.

Is there any liminations to installing a larger drive? :WD 160gb,250gb,500gb.
OS WIN XP

Thanks for your support!!

If the drive is clicking get that data off there NOW. You may be entitled to a Warranty replacement, check the drive's serial # at the mfgs. website.

I don't see why you could not put a larger drive into that case, get the largest you can afford...I would think 250 GB minimum.

If it doesn't work in that case, new cases are $12-20.

Best of luck,

Tony
