The scenarion is like this(let me tell you the story :)

We are using Veritas 8.6 for 2 yrs now and we dont have a VMS(Vertias Maintenance Support) for 2 years now.
Now Im planning to upgrade the veritas v80.6 to 9.0 or Netbackup.
Accd. to sales person, when I will upgrade to V9 or Netbackup, I will have to pay the 2 years that we dont have a support.

The question is which is better
1. Purchase the new V9 licencse or NetBackup, or pay the two year VMS for free upgrade to V9 but but not NetBackup.

2. For enterprise use, which is better to use , NetBAckup or Veritas V9.

Thanks.

Jerry

Netbackup is the proven Enterprise backup solution. IMHO, Backup Exec is for small mid-sized companies and is not a great solution for Enterprise infrastructures.

If you are in a heterogen environment, don't even think of BE. Buy Netbackup.
Netbackup will also offers better backup performances (multiplexing...).

I agree with comtec17 - NetBackup is definitely the solution for an enterprise solution - It works wonders in a heterogenous environment, in this case - Do not even consider Backup Exec as it becomes very hard to manage.

As everybody else would say: Go for NBU if you can.
It takes a little hard work to setup compared to BE, but after that it's much more easy to handle and performance is a lot better, especialy if you have fast tapedrives and a good network.
