Hello All,

Our IPO was shipped with 8.1 SD card

I have since upgraded the IPO to 9.0 but I cannot figure out how to upgrade the UC Module for VM pro and One-X. I have read the avaya KB and its not too informative...

I have also googled (including this site) around and would prefer to avoid the boot iso from usb drive option if at all possible. I want to upgrade via web gui.

1) Where do I get the RPM files that are needed to update via web gui - I know I need to go to avaya support page: but is it a firmware download? There is just so much info on avayas support page I dont know what to select..
A link would be great!
Or is it on the admin cd? I couldn't find it there.

2) Via web console - Settings > General

Do I upload the RPM file as application or OS?

This is my first IPO install, sorry if these seem like dumb questions. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

8.1 to 9.0 is a full upgrade because the OS changes as well. If you don't have a lot of stuff on there and can't backup for some odd reason then just wipe it and start new. Otherwise back it up and restore it when upgraded.

and the firmware is here

this is the upgrade firmware for the UCM and you will need SSDFWUpgrade-1.0.0-7.zip also located on the support website here

You need to use a portable DVD player or USB stick.
For the USB stick you need to use a tool to put the ISO on it and make it bootable.
If you do nto know this or never done it then get a portable DVD player and burn the ISO on a DVD.
Although i did not try the DVD option on 9.0 i guess is should still work.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Thank you for your responses! I am attempting firmware upgrade as suggested by Westi.... How long does the process take? UC Mod has been flashing (slow blink) red lights at me for around 30 minutes.

Also web console page is not accessible at this time. Is this normal?

It was actually flashing orange at me. Just had to reboot the box. While the FW upgrade took... the UC module is still on ver 8... I guess Ill give the iso options a shot

It can take up to an hour.
If you want to see what happens then connect a monitor to it.

The upgrade process from 8.1 to 9 requires different applications to the 8.0 to 8.1 upgrade. I managed to corrupt the file system on a customers UC module doing the 8.1 to 9 upgrade but fortunately got it changed over because it was less than 3 months from when I had bought it. Second time around it went like a bought one but definitely agree that you should connect a monitor so you can see what it is doing but be warned it does sit for a long time not appearing to do very much so be patient.

Usb upgrade is child like. Takes 45 minutes. Never used a monitor, just relied on the blinking LEDs to guide me. Like stated above, the difference is program you use for Usb creation that changes in 9.0 (3rd party download).

Follow the 9.0 doc to a T, you'll save time and you will be sure all the right files are there.

Hello All,

I Appreciate the replies thus far. I feel like I am getting closer to this.

I have formatted the USB stick again using unetbootin

I just copied the iso straight over to the USB. I plugged the usb stick into the UCM and also connected a monitor via HDMI

I rebooted ip office through the manager... But my monitor is blank?

The green status light on UCM is steady, other modules have flashing greed then orange(red?)

Is this correct or should I try again?

Also cannot browse to web gui via ipaddress:7070 hopefully that means its upgrading?

Try here;
