I am contemplating upgrading my installation of IWR and PPES from V7.3 MR1 to V7.3 MR2.

Has anyone else upgraded to this version yet ?

I just upgraded our test server from PPES71, without any problem.
Only Upfront and PPES.

Likewise here; PPES & upfront. Was as smooth as the infant Jesus in velvet pantaloons. Which was nice.

Ok sounds good. I know what i'll be doing tomorrow morning then.

Lex - you have a lovely way with words. LOL )

thanks fellas.

he he, Gary, you're welcome!
I found it best to un-install prior to an install - obviously this maximises your downtime. If you go this route, a full copy of cer4 is always time well spent. Managed to do it in an hour over lunchtime. Nice!

Ok chaps, I have upgraded Upfront and PPES and although the insatllation and configuration went as smooth as drLex predicted, the results are not good.

When I open a cube only the crosstab part of the screen is displayed.

the whole of the dimension tree is missing (blank white space is displayed), also the toolbars at the top and bottom of the screens are missing. These are replaced with
the Cognos Powerplay web graphic photo_top_pw.gif.

I have tried a re-installation and reconfigure to no avail. Any suggestions where I should look next ?

Gary,
did you uninstall prior or just install over?

ok fellas I got it sorted.

We were using the isapi gateway -
when i change to the default gateway -
or
everything displays correctly.

I think I'll report this to Cognos and see what they have to say, but at least I'm back up and runnign again.

FYI - the IWR upgrade went as smooth as one of Lex's proverbs.

Good to know you've sorted it. Have a good weekend (and may the fleas of a thousand camels infest the armpits of your enemies....)

drlex

I am unable to do an uninstall at the moment, (for some reason better known by the Cognos consultant who installed these products before I started this role) the products aren't registered correctly on our clustered server environment.

I've been trying to get enough time on the production server to sort this for the past 12 months to no avail, and as it all works correctly it isn't seen as high priority.

Indeed. I am unable to access the LDAP server (iPlanet) we're using, so keep fingers crossed that I never have to upgrade it, as I suspect it will require a server rebuild.

Our IT director is considering a full domain change to W2K3 (although the price is still making his eyes water), so it might be sooner than I hope. (Makes me sad that a Windows OS upgrade isn't more like Unix or Mac OS - offload the files, change the OS, restore the files)

regards,
lex
