We're in the process of upgrading our Lotus Notes clients from R4.6 to R5.0.5. After upgrading some e-mail databases, a few of the personal folders that were created by the users have disappeared from their e-mail databases. Has anyone ever encountered this? If so, how did you fix it? I've contacted notes support and they told me that I have to check each folder doc properties in each e-mail db manually and that they have no program fix for this.

This will happen. When you replace the design of the database, there is an option 'Inherit future design' which is ticked, this needs to be unticked. Also, it is always best practise to create a local copy of a mailfile before you make any design changes to it just in case something like this happens.

Lamaar, thanks for the info, but actually based on the Lotus Notes Website, the Inherit Future Design has be checked to on to prevent folders from being deleted during the upgrade. Below is excerpt from Lotus Notes Website: "Check the status of the 'Inherit Design from template'... if this option is on, ALL new folders will have the "Do not allow design refresh/replace to modify" option set to on by default; so they will remain any time either the Designer task runs or you manually replace the design of the database."
- Is there anyone who knows of a script or a program that will automatically check this option before I upgrade an e-mail database, instead of doing it manually on each of the e-mail databases? Thanks.
