Im using netware 3.11 at this time, now i'm planning to upgrade to Netware 4.xx. What should i do to upgrade the Netware without change the directory structure and users that already exist and also the groups.

I would upgrade to at least NetWare 5.1, unless the box doesn't meet the specs for it. Groups, users and rights should all come over with an upgrade. But print queues can sometimes be problematic. I would recreate the print queues after the upgrade. Also, the clients on all the PCs should be looked at since you will be going from bindery to NDS.

I agree with rjs...

First off, NetWare v4.11 is a discontinued product and is no longer supported by Novell.

Obviously, the version of NetWare that you upgrade to depends very significantly on the Server hardware that you are using. If your existing Server hardware can handle NetWare v5.1, I would recommend doing so.

Then again, the cost of the lower-end Server lines have come way down in price. You can pick up a very decent Dell, IBM, or Compaq Server for under $2000.00.

Good Luck.
