Upgrade to Dynamics 10 failing before even get to upgrade data

Installed Dynamics 10 with latest SP (installed to new instance/folder). As soon as I run utilities, it failes and the error log is giving me "Product 949 does not support upgrading from version 9.0.268." How can it not support upgrading from version 9??

I manually updated the version numbers in the db_upgrade to 9 and 285 and it went through..
