Currenty have one PIII 933 processor in a dual processor cable motherboard. My question is if I fit another processor will I have to reinstall the o/s? (2000 server)

No. After you've installed the processor, start the machine up and go into Device Manager. Expand the COMPUTER object, and upgrade the Single Processor driver to ACPI MultiProcessor PC.

I recently asked a supplier if I bought a dual processor capable motherboard with 1 CPU, if I needed to upgrade in a year or so if it was possible ......... he stated that processors must be from the same production batch and should have sequential production numbers ... apparently CPU's from different batches wont work (properly) on a dual motherboard !!!!!!
