hey everyone..

my friend needs to upgrade to CS3... he originally purchased version 7 years ago, and since then had upgraded to version CS, although all of the upgrade packages werent really 'legal'

Now, he wants to get straightened out and purchase the CS3 upgrade, question is: will it work when installing based on previous versions found and serial numbers on his system? He cant really call and ask Adobe, so he was wondering if anyone here knew what would happen if he tried...

He could but he full versions and start from scrath, but purchasing upgrades would be a lot less expensive... he needs to do it for photoshop too..

Thanks everyone, my friend will really appreciate your advice..

...as you have CS already installed you can upgrade to CS3, Adobe upgrades are full installs, so Adobe supply you with a serial to be able to install, however you need a legitimate CS serial to be able to install upgrade and activate...

...once that is done you will have a computer that has both CS and CS3 on it...

...personally i don't condone or encourage people to use copied serials or keygens and as you state there isn't one being used in this situation...

...the upgrade to CS3 does require product activation on launch of CS3 after the install, if it isn't activated i believe your stuck with 30 days use...

...i also believe that even if the current CS serial used allows you to install upgrade using the new CS3 serial, then upon product activation the CS serial and the CS3 serial will be sent to Adobe during activation if on the internet, the other option is to call Adobe to activate it...

...so if the idea is to get straight, then your best to buy the full version...

...and besides all that CS4 is probably not too far away anyway...
