Hey guys,

What do I need in order to go to R 8.1.43 ?

I have a 500v2 Release 7.0.36 with Essential Edition Additional Voicemail Ports ?

Cheers

You simply need an upgrade 2 license and the 8.x firmware.
Install license first then perform upgrade.

Future release requires an essential edition license too.
I have lost the virtual essential edition license already once when the IPO broke down.
And when it is a high call volume system then you rather not want to wait until you finally have the license.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Thanks !!!

So do I need an Essential Edition ?

Or should I go to R8.0 (maybe the Virtual license will be created at this point) and then to R 8.1 ?

Cheers

Roger, you can do that indeed, but it needs to be booted in R7 first (make sure you change to IPO mode and make/attempt an external call) then step it through 8.0.44 or earlier. The latest R8 and all R8.1 releases are designed to stop the generation of the virtual licence. Once on 8.0.44 you can then go to 8.1 as the 90 day window is still relevant in 8.0.44 and once on 8.1 the chassis is locked and the 90 day window closes :)

You are screwed :)

What I posted was in response to what Peter highlighted about changing the chassis out for a system running a virtual licence, or for new systems and they/you are too tight to buy one :)

Wait, to be fair I have never tried stepping an old system through the above process using the upgrade licence, I would try it as it "should" work, there is no reason it wouldn't :)
