Easy question - I've never upgraded a program that I compiled from source. I'm running Apache 2.0.35 on Red Hat Linux 7.1 and I want to upgrade to Apache 2.0.39. If I were to guess, I would just run the './configure' script from the Apache 2.0.39 source and then 'make' and 'make install'. Is this all I have to do?

Thanks

While this will work, it won't match the same directory structure you are used to with the redhat rpm. ./configure --help will list the options available to you so that you can customize the installation.

I didn't install from an RPM. I installed from source the same way I mentioned above. ---------------------------------------

If you just want the defaults then ./configure will be fine. But chances are you will be back saying things have moved or why don't I have this module. What GoldenEternity was saying is use the --help option or read the docs to make sure you get everything built in that you will want later.

Ok, thats what I was thinking. I wasn't sure if the upgrade would overwrite anything I needed, like any of my config files in the ServerRoot directory.

Thanks,

The config.status file shows all of the options that I used with the configure script. ---------------------------------------
