Dear Tek-Tips techs,

I am working with a non-profit Organization in Papua New Guinea. Recently we got from a US Phone installer help with an installation of a Panasonic TDE-600 on our main support center in PNG. The installer bought the system in the US and he voluntary installed it here to help us. Now we would like to extend it with a PRI30 trunk to a local phone company. However, our phone system comes from the US and has a US region lock. It is not able to handle the PRI30 trunk, just the PRI23 (that is useless in PNG [mad]). It is “just” a software/firmware problem, but it stops us to extend our phone system with trunks to the Telco’s in country. Our installer and we were not aware of the region lock and now we are sitting on a switch that we can’t fully use. I am wondering if a Panasonic reseller could sell me a MPR card upgrade to a non US version? I know this is a very unusual request, but I don’t know what I should do else.

u could try to system initial reset ( dont know if its factory bound tho)

install Maintanance console as your needs

1 - remove sd card , safe all files
2 - set new PRIVAT map on the SD card
3 - switch to system initial and power on the PBX ( whit sc card)
4 - connect to PBX 192.168.0.101 (pass 1234)
5 - follow steps , even new system initial, switch to inistial , power on or reset, switch to normal and contineu
6 - if u give me MPR ID ill look if it has lics ( licencies) for the TDE its located on the back of the PBX or insite the maintanance tool ( activate licence )

if u need anny help let me know.

Hi thecorewithin,

thanks for your reply. My ID is F301-402-F0C2-42F8. I bought some extra licenses for sip extension and trunk.
When I understand you correct you suggest just try to do a initial reset? Does the provided sd card from you just contains empty new system files? My MPR card is still on a older firmware (Version 5 when I see it correct in the maintenance console).

I will try your suggestion...

Thanks for your help

Norbert

cant find your MPR ID missing number or so ( F301-402-F0C2-42F8 ) needs to be 4-4-4-4 not 4-3-4-4

safe your LIC files carefully
and reupload them in the new initial reset

I think the main card firmware is different for each region and just loading a different software on the sd card will not work.

If you try it it should not cause any problems, but save the old private file with lic file and running config.

I know if you try to open a USA dssys file in euro programming tool it will not open

Sorry, the MPR ID is [ F301-0402-F0C2-42F8. I forgot in the second column the leading zero.

I got one client who got stuck with such a system because it was US and was installed in a Nigeria.
USA systems are first, locked and need to be registered.

Here is my advice that i have tried and works.

Get an IP Trunk License.
Get an E1 VoIP Gateway and Terminate your providers E1 to the VoIP Gateway.
The Gateway should serve as IP Trunk to your KX-TDE600

You will have 30 outbound simultaneous calls from your TDE600
I am surprised that that Tech did not know what you will experience.
I have remotely supported several clients in different countries, the majority being from USA.

Sorry about your experience

Thanks for all your advise. I was ready to buy a new mpr card, but then I could get the PRI23 card running with my E1 card and a loop4300 converter. Just needed to change the codec settings on the TDE600 from u-law to a-law.

Thanks

Norbert
