Upgrade Tapedrive DDS-2 DDS-4

Our HP SureStore DAT8 backup unit just crapped out. HP wants some ridiculous amount to fix it(about 2/3 its value new), so my boss is concidering upgrading to a Compaq 20/40 DDS-4. I'm wondering if our old SCSI card which came with the old unit, can be still used with these new faster, bigger tape storage units, or is there some new faster SCSI standard as well.

Any advice would be appreciated.
