I recently upgraded Backup Exec from 8.0 to 8.5. I finally got the remote agent to install for my exchange server, but since the upgrade, the backups take 17 hours compared to 7 before. The throughput on my exchange server has dropped to 7 MB/sec. Is the new remote agent different from what we had before (agent accelerator) so that we cannot backup systems quickly?

Any ideas?

The agent accelerator & remote agents are exactly the same.

If your backing up an exchange server are you using the exchange agent??

Last guy had a good question. Need to make sure you are using the Exchange agent. Also, are you using Veritas drivers for your tape device(s)? If not, download the latest drivers from Veritas and install.

yes, i have the exchange agent. i'm just talking about the overall backup of this server for all of its drives. before it backed up around 110 MB/sec. Now it's down around 7 MB/sec. So the backup takes 7 hours longer.

this is not a new program for us. we have the same drivers that we had when we installed veritas to begin with.

i'm going to reboot the exchange server tonight to see if that helps.
