Greetings,

I have a site collection that is part of a 2003 Portal Server. I would like to somehow make that site collection a standalone WSSv3 site on another server. The sites are all from standard templates, but there has been some interface customization done with FrontPage. There are also some custom lists in the sites.

What would you recommend as the correct way to approach this? My only current thought is to make a virtual server, set up SPS 03 on it and get the site recreated there, upgrade it to MOSS 07, then use stsadm to export the site and reimport it to a WSS-only instance. The problem is, I don't even know if this will work, and there is a significant time investment there. Can anybody help me?

I would go with a recreation of the site as you always have more issues to deal with if you migrate. It's too risky. I would just do a virtual server to host the old version as an archive and rebuild the site on MOSS 2007.
