I just looked at the Product and Marketing Bulletin. At first glance if your system is not bulging at the seams then maybe you could wait. RLS 25 provides faster processors and increased capacity via the new Fiber Network Fabric which gives the possibility of 6 network groups. Rls 26 is in Field Trial now so keep that in mind too (October time frame for field release?)
There are also enhancements to allow programming of more D-Channels and better software for the M3900 phones.
Actually there is no release 26. The next release for the Meridian line is called Succesion 1000M Rls 3. It is full IP enabled and requires you to use the PII or higher processor's. If you are at Rls 23 and plan on upgrading I would wait till 3Q for this release as it will be the new platform for Meridian's. If you are not using any of the IP products and plan on not using them in the future then don't worry about it (stay at current Rls.). If you are or plan to then this will be required. To use the Nortel's IP products you need at least Rls. 24.25 or higher. I would suggest at least going to Rls. 25 if you plan on any IP products. Although you will be limited on the 24 port cards and will more than likely not be able to use the new IP products as they are unvailed. In short if your going to upgrade wait till the new release. I do have to say that the new release and features that Nortel has planned is very exciting. We are now in the middle of planning our upgrades for all of our sites. There are some things that are not GA yet that I cannot discuss but the future release is one of their best yet (If it works as promoted).
