Hi there,

Currently I am testing and upgrade from R4 to R5. (I have even built a replica of my current domain)
I am reading through the upgrade red book and it advises me (as part of the upgrade) to remove the design task from notes.ini.

Why would I want to do this? The design task runs at 1am and upgrades the databases with any template changes.

At no stage in the red book does it say to put design back in notes.ini. Does R5 perform design upgrades in a different manner?

any ideas?

Hi,

R5 still uses the Design task. I do not know why the redbook mention this.

If the task is set in the Notes.ini in "ServerTaskAt1" then you do not need to add it to the normal "ServerTasks". Maybe that is what they mean.

Or maybe they just want you to disable it during the upgrade but forgot to mention to put it back.

Even on R6 is still runs at 1 by default. Maybe you should upgrade to R6? ;-)

Kind regards,

Thanks Dominik,

I guess that they just forgot to say put the Design task back in when the upgrade is completed.

Regards,
