upgrade question

I have a 2000AD running exchange 2000. I want to go to 2003AD running exchange 2003. Staying on the same hardware. What order should i do this? I think i need to upgrade Active directory first.

No special need for that: we upgraded Exchange to 2003 and are planning the upgrade of A.D. to 2003 beginning next year
