upgrade processor from 2.2 to 4.0???? 1

hey guys,

just wondering if im missing something?? im trying to upgrade a magix processor 2.2 to a 4.0 with the flash card. do i need to do anything special?

i go to maintenance, system, upgrd/install.... it checks/validates the memory card.... then says continue.... then says....

MemCard Rel: 10.0 V7.0
Current Rel: 2.2 V7.2
Incompatible Releases

do i have to do something to force the upgrade?

Clarification.....

Are you trying to upgrade the software on a 2.2 processor to make it a 4.0 or are you trying to upload translations from a 2.2 processor to a 4.0 processor?

If it ain't broke, I haven't fixed it yet.

Yeah, that's normal. Threw me the first time I saw it too!

Here's what you do:

Insert the card, go through menus:
Maintenance > System > Upgrade

Screen shows "Validation of Memory Card in Progress",
then "Validation of Memory Card Successfully Completed"

Press Exit

Next screen shoes each release name and "Incompatible releases"

Press F10 twice, or press the bottom right hand button next to the display if you are using the 4424LD+ or MLX-20L for programming.

Answer YES to the next screen and the system continues with the upgrade.



Now before you do ANY of this, remember that you need to backup the system programming to your computer, then use the "Convert" utility in WinSPM to convert the programming, beacuse after the upgrade, you will Restore the new translations to the Magix.
