do a backup on the program files/avaya/ipoffice/manager folder just in case, then copy all your new upgrade .bin files into that folder, logon manager, then file, advance, upgrade and all modules that are upgradable will show in the listbox and select your upgrade from there.
v 1.99 Is only required on an IP403 the 1st time it is upgraded from 1.x to 2.x if the unit already has V2.0 then 1.99 is not required (not that it will do any harm)
I would also recommend a complete uninstall of 2.0 Admin & a reinstall of 2.1 tghe 2.0 Manager can cause corruption in a 2.1 switch.
the document CD does contain a tool tip giving a setp by step guide to upgrading.
Not that he needs a second opinion for his advice to carry weight, but I agree with IPGuru - always uninstall and reinstall Manager, never copy .bin files manually.
If you're upgrading VMPro at the same time, export your call flows before the upgrade, and jot down the settings in the VMPro email settings doodad in the control panel, as they will be defaulted.
Morrack, why do you say not to copy bin files,??? I support many sites and alwyas run the latest manager on my laptop and when ever i do an upgrade i just copy the required bin files into manager or the wkging dir i am using, never had a problem
What peter is saying is do not copy newer binfiles into an older manager program.
IE 2.1 bin files if the manager is still at 1.3, even if the upgrade is sucsesfull the earlier manager will not allow access to the newer feature & can cause problems if it is used to change the config.
puting older bins into a newer manager is not usualy a problem
also remeber email settings will be defaulted during upgrade, they can be changed in the control panel tab.
the tech sheet for the upgrade covers most thinsg though.
1: file/save as from manager so you have a copy of the IPO config
2: export from voicemail - saves voicemail setup
3: uninstall old Manager/VM/IPO apps
4: install 2.1 Admin/VM
5: upgrade firmware on units - using upgrade in manager
6: import VM config and save and make live
7: set voicemail to email settings if not done during install
8: test incomming calls to extensions
9: test incomming calls to attendant
And also remember if changing working directory from 1_99 to 2_1 (if you are just upgrading the main units at first) - remember to change the working dir back to the main manager directory so any of your expansion modules are up to the latest version as well - sometimes they can be forgotten.
Whole process with a VM Pro upgrade should take no longer than half an hour.
