Hello all,

I was wondering if there is smooth way to upgrade a laptop running Media Center Edition to XP Pro.

Reason is, these folks would like to join this laptop into a domain and that isn't possible with MCE.

any thoughts?

Thanks!

Sam

There is no upgrade path.

You would need to do a clean install of XP Professional.

Doh! I was hoping that wasn't going to be the answer.

Thanks anyway though,

Sam

You're already at the top OS wise with Windows: Media Center runs on XP Pro under the hood, you can join Media Center laptops to a domain just like you can join XP Pro machines.

Media Center 2005 and subsequent cannot join Domains "just like you can join XP Pro Machines."

Sorry drew1701d - you're wrong.

MCE cannot be joined to a domain, this i'm sure of.

You can join a domain during setup, but you can't after XP has been installed from what I've seen.
