Check in the installation manual and release notes. You will find a checklist with the steps for upgrading. From 8.1.5 to 8.1.6 should be pretty simple - possibly as simple as running one script from the installation media. [sig][/sig]
Forgot to mention - be sure to take a full offline backup of your database before trying to upgrade it. That way you can go back to square one if something goes wrong! [sig][/sig]
Sorry for all the questions but I'm a new DBA and can't find anything regarding this. Documentation is on the CD and I've looked at all. I can't believe that I can't find anything on this. Listed below are the steps I've identified. Please let me know if I'm missing anything.
- Create new Oracle Home
- Update any reference to Oracle in
Oracle user profile
oratab
listener.ora
startup/stop scripts
init.ora
- [Bring Oracle DOWN? Listener down?]
- Run U0801050.sql from Oracle_Home/rdbms/admin [Run as system?] - Bring up Oracle and Listener
Please any information would be helpful. I'm going to do this tomorrow. Thanks again.
