From what I have Upgraded to Win 2k. I have found the you will get much better results in the long run if you do a CLEAN INSTALL. Most of the systems i upgraded started to have issues later on with files and being sluggish.
You can do an upgrade, but I would do a clean install. Once you begin using Win2k, chances are you won't use 98 anymore. Also, like what has been said before a clean install in the long run will be the best. Jason Wichman
My favorite is to take the hard drive out of the Win98 machine and install a new hard drive for the Win2K machine. Then make the old 98 HD a slave, leaving everything as is. Once the system is up and running smoothly with the new hard drive, you can begin copying all the files from the old hard drive over to the new, and deleting non-used folders and files from the old drive, such as the Windows directory and the applications that you installed onto the new hard drive. Plus, with a 2nd hard drive in the machine, you can put the Win2K pagefile onto that disk rather than the disk with the OS on it, much better performance.
