I am are currently using CR7 to distribute reports to users. We have recently started to use graphs.

One feature missing in CR7 is the ability to use running total fields on graphs. Top get around this, I was planning to upgrade to CR9, but I now find that there is no facilility to distribute reports as exe files so that they can be sent to users (as with CR7).

I have a few questions :

1. Does CR9 allow the use of running total fields on graphs ?
2. To replace the distribution of CR7 reports as exe files, I would like to give our users access to reports on the web using our intranet. I am sure this is possible using CR9. What are the licensing implications ? Could I just buy a single user version (developer/advanced ???) that would allow all our users to view dynamic reports (with parameter fields etc) on our intranet ?

Regards,

CR 8.5 does not, I don't think that CR 9 does either.

No, licensing is very opportunistic with regards to WEB development. I'd contact Crystal Decisions and get the current licensing from them.

You can accomplish the essentially the same thing as the v7 distribution expert by using one of the commercial viewer programs that I have listed on the LINKS page of my web site.

You can use RAS Developer or Advanced to do small scale web deployment, but the price goes up rapidly if you try to scale it up. Look at my last 3-4 newsletter for information on RAS deployment. Ken Hamady, On-site Custom Crystal Reports Training & Consulting

Running Totals on Graphs appeared as a feature in CR8.5, so yes, it is in CR9 as well.

And for report distribution, use a 3rd party viewer like my cView. Ken has a complete list on his site of the various viewers available, including cView. Editor and Publisher of Crystal Clear
